error 0x429 when booting Win7
Hi, Please check the issue referring to the methods in the following Knowledge Base article: Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833Spencer TechNet Community Support

The system attempts to repair itself and it doesn't of course, this is no big surprise to me. I then put the DVD in the drive and boot to the repair utility and it scans and tell me that the file kdcom.dll in my system32 folder is corrupt. I've tried fixboot, fixmbr and rebuildbcd... over and over and over with the same results. I've backed up my data but would rather not do a full install. I was going to try copying the dll file from a working 7 machine and replace corrupt one but run into permissions errors... Could use some help here as I've pretty much exhausted my skill level. Please let me know what I'm missing or have overlooked. The report comes back clean except for the corrupt dll file. Thanks for any advice, tricks or tips that you are willing to share. Fnolteiii

This would be an awesome program if my system would boot as the very first instruction tells you to run command prompt as admin.... unfortunately, my system doesn't boot because of the corrupt .ddl file and when I try to run it from cmd from the dvd, it tells me there is a repair already in place but the system needs to be rebooted. Of course that just takes me back to the beginning that I have a corrupt .dll file and that windows repair can fix it, which it tries, fails and dumps me back right where I started. What else ya got?

Hi, Can you boot you PC to Safe mode ? If not, I think you should perform a clean install. The link below would guide you how to do it: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htmSpencer TechNet Community Support
