ehtray.exe
First off, what the ____ is this? Second, why does it need to use 25% of my quad-core CPU to run CONSTANTLY? Why does it need to run constantly? If this program is not essential, how do I disable it?

Hi ehtray.exe is a tray bar process for the Microsoft media center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a user dependent process you can disable it . Disable it from start up entry, type MSCONFIG in start menu search bar ,hit enter, allow if UAC prompts,go to start up tab, uncheck the media center process, click ok, restart when prompted. hope it helps Nikhil

ehtray.exe is a process is the tray bar process for the Microsoft Media Center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference. when you disable the process in msconfig, it will generate a duplicate process. If you delete the startup entry it will create a new entry the next time you open Media Center.First you must take ownership of the file itself (ehtray.exe) and then you must give yourself full control over it. Once you have ownership and full control, rename ehtray.exe to ehtray.old, or you can simply delete the file and it will no longer wasteresources and Media Center will still function perfectly without out.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST

Thanks sukara5 for marking my response as a proposed answer, but Nihkil posted his response while I was still typing mine so I was 6 minutes shy of getting the answer ;-)MCSE, MCSA, MCDST
