easy connect
I am unacle to connect with easy connect. I get an error unable to connect to global peer to peer network. I have a wrtn160n linsys router ver1. Everthing seems to be fine. I went to my customers site his works he has everything I have except his
router is a version2. Is there any setting in my router I need to change or something in my OS Win7 64 bit pro.

You need to check that your version supports win7 you should also update the firmware.

My system is windows 7 64 bit with all updates. My firmware is updated on my router. Any other suggestions would be appreaciated since I the one supposed to connect remotely. I never had a problem with XP.

As it turns out my router does not support pnrp. I have a linksys wrt160n ver1. A linksys wrt160n Ver 2 is suppored but you can not upgrade the firmware from a ver1 to a ver2. Note ver3 will also work.

I always used easy connect fine for a long time with no problems. All of a sudden it woudn't work. I could not figure it out and on this and MANY other forums I saw the commonly-successful resolution of disabling VMware or VirtualBox network adapters,
and surely enough, I had JUST recently installed Virtual box on this Windows 7 64bit laptop, and I was elated to think i had solved my problem. I disabled the VirtualBox network adapter, rebooted, and unfortunately Easy Connect STILL won't work! I
have checked all network and sharing settings and they are all fine, and the same as before. Using an invitation file does not work either, and Windows troubleshooting is no longer providing any solutions (although typically I don't use such methods
anyhow).
I am stumped. My next step is to attempt an uninstall of Virtual Box completely, but, since I have disabled the network adapter completely, and my Network says only connected to one network now (instead of "multiple" networks), I cannot imagine that
will fix it. It is very frustrating. I also had tried to disable all firewalls.

MGHolley,
I see this is an old issue, but I ran into this issue tonight while attempting to fix my father's PC from afar. I disabled my vmware adapters but still had the issue described above. I just wanted to say thanks since your post about the service led to my
resolution. In my case I only needed to stop and restart it, since it was running, also changed from manual to automatic. It's working like a charm now; thanks again!
