drive C: is full but drive D: is empty

I have a laptop with windows 8.1 and have discovered that C: if almost full and D: is empty.

I have tried using the partition resizing tool and there is a partition between them that stops me.

I am confused as to why this was done in the first place, but never the less, I need to repartition the drive so that I have more usable space.

can I set the environment variables (the temp, tmp, logfiles, ect ) to use D: ???

I can move a few things over to D: and that would help.

Not real sure how to go about that though.

Thank You

Phil

Hi Phil,

According to your description,I suggest you post the screenshot with Disk Management so that we can help you analyze the issue

I don't recommend you change the user profile location. You can change the page file location by the following steps.

1. Right Click Computer | Choose Properties

2. Click Advanced System Settings

3. Performance Tab | Click Settings

4. Advanced Settings Tab | Virtual Memory | Click Change

5. Uncheck automatically manage page file

6. Clicking on disk will allow you to set paging file where you want

7.Reboot your system.
