disconnect request denied
I have seen several similar postings but non of them seem to address the specific issue that I am having. To begin with I am operating in a Windows Server 2003 AD Domain and using group policy to lock down a domain user profile on Windows 7 client computers. We have added a Server 2008 R2 member server for the purpose of applying it's extended set of group policy options. I am using a Domain Guest account called "publiccenw7" in a domain called "hplpublic.local". When the user logs in GP launches a public access reservation client called Vendprint Access Manager (VAM). The computers are configured to autologon to publicwin7 so that neither staff or our patrons have to deal with it. Patrons simply reserve a computer and enter their access code and password to access the desktop. We use remote desktop support extensively and have had little difficulty with it on XP computers. Because of the way Windows 7 logs out of a user session I can't use our third party remote access tool (DameWare) to access these computers. I can't circumvent Autologon because I can't tell when to press the shift key. When I try to use RDP to access windows 7 I get the following message; "Another user is currently logged on to this computer. If you continue this user has to dissconnect from this computer. Do you want to continue?" When I click Yes it looks like I am going to connect but then I get the following error message; "hplpublic\publiccenw7 denied your disconnect request. I have verified the settings in group policy both in AD and localy and I have checked Remote Settings on the local client. I even tried adding the local administrator account and publiccenw7 in the local Remote Desktop Users group. Sorry for the disertation but I wanted to make sure I got all the facts as best as I could. Does anyone have a clue?tweaton

Regarding this behavior, you can refer: How a Remote Desktop Connection Affects Windows XP Professional This article is also applied for Windows 7. You may consider if you need to enable Fast User Switching on the Windows 7 computers. If you would like to force logoff the current logged on session when you try to log on remotely, on the Remote Desktop host computers, check the following policy Computer Configuration/Administrative Template/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Service/Remote Desktop Session Host/Connections/ Deny logoff an administrator logged in to the console session Make sure that this policy is Not Configured or Disabled. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
