disable Outlook password request when starting Win 8.1

Hi all

I want to set a group policy that blocks the pop up window that prompts for a password for Outlook when you log into Windows 8.1 for the first time. I need this for meeting room PCs so the users don't get interrupted when sharing screens and having conferences.

I am looking through the admx packs but can't find a setting that I think pertains to it...... does anyone know how to stop this pop up from happening?

I DON'T want to stop the user having to log into the PC, so I don't want to turn off all Windows authentication and log in for the PCs.

Thanks.

Open Run and type:'netplwiz' and hit ok

untcheck the box at the top saying 'users must enter a username and password to use this computer'

Hit ok and then you'll need to enter your password one last time

Hi,

Step 1: - Login to Windows 8.1 with username and password.

Step 2: - Press Windows key +R and type netplwiz and click OK.

Step 3: - In next pop-up windows uncheck the box (User must enter a user name and password to use this computer).

Step 4: - On the next Window enter your username and password.

Step 5: - Now, click OK and restart the computer.

Hi Kat,

Are you login with the Microsoft Account? Are you using the built-in store mail Apps?

Best regards

Does anyone know where to set in it in Group Policy for win8? I have the admx pack installed and am using AGPM.

Hi Katwoman07,

Do you login with the Microsoft account?

If it is possible, please post a screenshot of the popup you want to block.
There is a group policy can be used to block the Microsoft account to login the machine. As a result we have to login with the local account. I am not quite sure whether this will meet the need.
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts

Best regards

thanks for that; no this is for meeting room PCs.

So users want to log in as themselves.

If there isn't an option then I guess they will just have to grin and bear it. :)

thanks you can mark this as closed.
