dial-up networking IE7 won't see connection
I'm having trouble getting IE7 to recognize and keep my dial-up connection. My modem isn't detected upon install so I think some or all of dial-up networking is missing. I disabled my nic and reinstalled, but now IE7 drops my connection after a few seconds even though set to never drop the connection. Or it pops up the dial-up dialog while networking thinks I'm still connected. I can't dial a second time, modem HW locks up so Vista is not hanging up or resetting my modem upon disconnect or loss of connection. My modem is a generic PCI Winmodem with Intel 536EP chipset using the Intel XP driver. None of the included generic drivers work at all. I tried them all. Help file suggests I should add Dial-up Networking from Add/Rem programs but there is no such choice any longer in Windows components. Anyway, I can make a new dial-up connection and IE now sees it and lets me change configuration, but not delete it.The Advanced IE7 modem properties dialog won't let me change anything because it fails to go through the security confirmation routine other changes ask about. Is there any way I can download a Vista Intel 536EP modem driver or a dial-up networking patch via my Win2k dial-up connection or must I wait for the RC1 DVD?
