dfs issues with windows 7
recently dfs started mis behaving at my remote site. it seems to only happen on win 7 machines. the xp machines are all working correctly. if from any win 7 machine you go to \\ad.dfsshare\files you will only see the files that are on the local server, from the xp machines you will see all of the dfs shares avalible. i also chaecked to see if the dfs shares were avalible directly by connecting to them with their full path ie. \\servername\share and they opened up fine.

Hello, Is there replication? Are you using cost as a method of accessing replicated folders? MiguelMiguel Fra / Falcon IT Services Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase and Support Sharepoint Site

yes the replication works. on all xp machines at the site everything works fine. and from the on site server it works fine. just not from the win 7 machines. the servers are all 2008 r2 boxes. 2 at our main offie, and one at the remote site. and no we are not using cost

Is it DFS or DFSR? It seems to me that the Windows 7 machines are behaving as designed whereas the XP machines are not. When you use the AD namespace, DFS should bring up the replicated folders based on cost, not display the same replicated folders across volumes. I'm not sure though... it is not set to cost, it should bring up all folders, except those that are set to be local. like the users will only see the user folder for their site, all other folders should be visible to all
