device driver not installed properly problem on start up
Every time I start my computer, win 7 is trying to install a driver for a standard modem, and fails. I recently did a mother board swap. I did a sysprep before swapping. I have no exclamations in device manager and everything is working fine. I click on the trouble shooter, and it does a hardware scan, then says to try it again, but still get this problem on startup. It takes about 5 minutes during start up for this problem to try and sort itself out. It is quite annoying. I've searched for solutions but no luck yet.

1. Try to run sfc /scannow and analyze content of log. 2. What type of W 7 do you have? 3. Activate logging of boot process (F8) and try to pinpoint the problem in log file. 4. If nothing helps try in-place upgrade Regards Milos

Thanks for a response. 1. I ran sfc and came up with no integrity problems 2. Windows 7 ultimate 64bit 3. The log was quite long, and I am not sure what I am looking for, should I copy and past the results here? Anthony

Hi, Have you tried to install the latest driver for the mother board and NIC from device provider website? Meanwhile, you can show hidden device, check if there are any device with exclamations, and disable it.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support
