desktop defender 2010 virus took over windows
Hi..I got hit with the nasty Desktop Defender 2010.exe and need help...i cant get online, therefore cant update any definitions to get rid of this virus.I have a wdws VistaOk..while i was still able to access internet i downloaded Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials & Spyware Doctor & Antivirus. I already had Windows Defender too.immediatly after downloading the Spyware Doctor & Antivirus (which is purchased) I was cut off the internet and haven't been able to re-connect. I ran a SPyware Dr scan, which had a lot of infections and a few threats, and it removed them. However, my Antivirus is now De-activated. I need to get back on-line so I can get Spyware Dr to re-activate my Antivirus. (FYI...my back-up computer also had the Spyware Dr & the Antivirus de-activated , so...i contacted PCtools thru chat and the guy re_activated the Antivirus..no problem thus far,,and back-up computer was not affected by any virus, prior or after) but now i just cant connect first computer to internet. Now, when i run a scan it tells me everything is fine. but its notof course, all my protectors say they are fine and not detecting any malware, spyware, etc. Securitycenter.exe has stopped working (so has anything windows or protective) a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly...I have follwed Removal steps, such as; Rebooting in safe mode with networking, immediatly going too Task Mgr and End Process of desktop defender and removed the svchost (there were always many, repeating, but i finally got them all off) but there may be other files i dont know their namesMy next step should be going to MBAM , but, i cant get connected.i did a disk clean and i have left 2 program files showing.... {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} UNKNOWN 4kb {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} DAMAGED total size:none(i do not know what this means, am i supposed to get rid of these files?)Also, i have tried to Remove the Desktop Defender 2010 under control panel with no response.Virus has taken over everything Windows...The rest of the computer works,ie; games, pictures, deleting other files like games....I guess my question is How can i get control back of windows and my internet connection? so i can get rid of this thing? Also, I went to Run a program, and it tells me it cannot find Desktop Defender 2010.exe..but its in control panel...

You need to download AVAST free VERSION( FOR NOW) TO A CLEAN COMUTER AND THEN RUN IT ON YOUR MACHINE.... if you CANNOT RUN avast, YOU MAY HAVE TO ( HERE IT COMES--reload windows yes, we all hate that ,,again, again, again-it really sucks and consumes years of you r life..) why no EASY to Back -up ??? Can't tell you as we had it back in the 80's and NOW???????? Good luck..Please let us know how it works out.. PS.all those Malware etc ARE the VIRUSES !! Also, some of the SVHOSTS ARE LEGIT AS ARE MULTIPLE COPIES ,,The location of teh file is the trick to identifying the virus infection..Google SVHOST and READ which LOCATIONS are infections.. Yes, it sucks you can't expand that window and read the damned thing, another idiotic stunt f windows.Sorry..

I had that happening to me too a little while ago. I got rid of it by simply by using back up and restore. I just went back to a restore point that was a couple of days before the malware got into my computer. Depending of your windows installation it is sometimes possible to go to the back up and restore during the boot process in my case I have a HP computer and can access the back up and restore by hitting the F11 key during booting. Good luck.

I DID A SYSTEM RESTORE TO THE LAST SAVED RESTORE POINT AND ALL IS FIXED !! THE NAME OF THE PROCESS IS SOMETHING LIKE ''oxe'' ...not sure exactly but for sure you will see it has 3 letters. It will start again after a moment thoug, but dont mind it, go to your control panel via the start menu and do a system restore. MOST ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE DONT DETECT IT SO DONT EVEN WASTE TIME SCANING.

If you can download some of the Sysinternals software then you should be able to remove it manually. Firstly, use process explorer to identify your unsigned and suspicious looking programs. Suspend the process. Then run the 'Autoruns' program to disable theautomatic startup of the program. Then kill the process and restart. There's a good tutorial about it here.
