desktop and internet connection
My Dell computer was working fine. A few hours later, after powering on, the desktop took a long time to load and the start menu and taskbar have a different look to them. I now cannot connect to internet. It keeps trying to acquire an IP address. My router is working properly and all cables are secured. I did not change, delete or add any software or hardware.version - windows xpAny help.1 person needs an answerI do too

Sounds like you may be infected. First, open control panel > internet options > connections tab > LAN settings button. Look to make sure there is a check mark in the box to auto detect settings and that there is NOT a check mark in the use proxy settings. Malware sometimes changes these. Next, boot your computer in safe mode with networking. Download, update and choose a quick scan with Malwarebytes. Post your results.
