desktop.ini
desktop.ini is included to be burned everytime I open a CD or DVD

Exactly what problem do you have with that? Because AFAIK that file is not being burned to the CD/DVD. And fyi the desktop.ini contains info like what icon the folder must display e.g. a the videos folder in your user profile the desktop.ini tells windows to use a specific icon instead of the default folder icon. If you don't want to see those files in Explorer go to Organize -> Folder and search options. Select the view tab and make sure that : Dont show hidden files, folders or drives is selected. Also make sure that: hide protected operating system files (recommended) is also checked. In terms of size they are less than 1kb (so extremely small). I just checked one now and it was 504 bytes. It is not going to make any difference to how much you can burn to the CD/DVD

Derosnec: IMO it can be ignored. As I mentioned earlier the desktop.ini contains info about the folder e.g. its localized name, its icon etc. As far as I have seen the desktop.ini in the CD burning folder does not get burned to the cd/dvd. I think worst case scenario is you get a different folder icon in explorer for the cd burning folder. But as most folders dont have a desktop.ini (at least on my pc) I don't see it that much. The only thing in the desktop.ini on my pc's cd burning folder is: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815 which just tells Windows where to get its localized name from. Ultimately it's up to you whether you overwrite it or not. And deleting the file (which i've just done) hasnt impacted windows either.

Just never burn the desktop.ini file to the disc, that is what I do...Please try every solution given to your problem...and reply back with its results... - JoelbX

Yeah, same problem here, I just ignore the file, however, if there is a way to not make it burn / display these files, it would be nice to know how to stop this quirk. Please try every solution given to your problem...and reply back with its results... - JoelbX

It is strange for it to be there but weather it's a blank disk or hasdataon it seems to be safe to delete. If it isn't Mr. Seven it's not.

I'm not a new user of windows. I know the the way we can show or hide the hidden files. THE POINT IS: I THINK IT IS NONSENSE TO SEE DESKTOP.INI FILE READY TO BE WRITTEN TO THE CD WHEN WE DID NOT PUT IT THERE. PROBLEM IS WE WANT TO HAVE AN OPTION TO PERMANENTLY REMOVE THAT FILE. NOT MAKE IT INVISIBLE.

he's not talking about burning to disk I have the same problem it's like windows (vista and 7 I didn't have this problem with 98/XP) can't tell the difference between a CD/DVD ROM and a R/RW as it wants to burn desktop.ini to both read-only and read/write disks
