deleting the hidden temporary files
last night i downloaded the new windows security program. but before it would let me, i had to go into tools, delete browsing history, then it said to go to 'settings' & select either 'view files or view objects' & delete that content. i can't remember which one i had to do. if i click 'view files' it give me a list of 'temporary internet files'. is it ok to delete all of these? it seems like all of the cookies that i deleted went into this 'hidden' file. i would like to delete this file on my computer at work. is this the correct file to delete - 'view files' or 'view objects'.

Hi,You can select ‘view files’ and delete the Temporary internet files. It is fine to delete those files. The Temporary Internet Files (or cache) folder contains Web page content that is stored on your hard disk for quick viewing. This cache permits Internet Explorer to download only the content that has changed since you last viewed a Web page, instead of downloading all the content for a page every time it is displayed.Refer this KB article for more information:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260897You can also delete the temporary files and many unnecessary files on the computer using the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP.Refer this article:Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312Regards,Afzal Taher-Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
