delayed write failure
I use an external portable hard drive for music. It only has the seagate software and music. Occassionally I will use it to backup my hard drive. When I play a song in my optical drive and decide to save it using itunes it will save it to my external drive instead of my laptop drive. I have used the seagate tools for windows and tested my hard drives. smart test, short dst test and long dst tests have all passed. Occassionally I get a message with saving a song that windows delayed write failed. When this happens I disconnect my external hard drive and then reconnect it. Unfortunately to do this I am not able to click on safely remove hardware. I have to just pull the usb connection and then I reconnect. Then I am able to save the song via itunes to my external drive. I do not understand how to correct this problem. This was available on the seagate site: http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=205043&NewLang=en I have not turned off windows firewall. And I have not yet turned off mcafee firewall. These are some microsoft links that i viewed too: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818788/ ; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320855/ ; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330174/en-us This problem happens sporadically. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do the next times it happens to potentially figure out why it occurs? And perhaps prevent it from happening?2 people need an answerI do too
