delayed start up
I recently installed windows 7. For some unknown reason, it went into the restore mode and since then, after starting the comp, it takes 1-2 hours for the login screen to show up.

Hi,There are many reasons for this behaviour includes old drives or system files since the system restore may restored older files.Try to install latest updates and drivers for BIOS as well as the device drivers from your manufacture's website.Regards from www.windowsadmin.info [If this answer helps you to resolve the issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. vansing, tell us more about your system too please, is it an OEM computer or home built, and did you do an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 or did you do a clean install of Windows 7 (or dual boot). More information can help us pinpoint a resolution for you. Also I can't remember anyone ever saying their system has ever went into restore mode by itself unless you've left your Windows 7 DVD in the drive or something like that. Also review your Event Logs for startup errors and also read this KB article for troubleshooting by performing a clean boot and disabling some startup services. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. You can also test it in Device Clean Boot to check which device caused this problem: Device Clean Boot ================= 1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties. 4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Then, please restart the computer to check if the issue persists. If not, you can enable the device one by one to find out the root cause.Vivian Xing - MSFT
