debug assertion failed
when I start up, a window opens that saysdebug assertion failedProgram: C:\WINDOWS\system32\bwlmrnw\atisvc_ugqemo.exeFile: c:\wtl80\include\atlctrls.hLine: 2838Expression: ::IsWindow(m_hWnd)For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.(Press Retry to debug the application) I've tried pressing Abort, Retry, and Ignore, but the same message just keeps popping up. I tried running antivirus stuff but I'm not sure what else to do. I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks

Do you have an ATI video card? What "antivirus stuff" did you run? Please try these very thorough malware removal steps because Googling for "atisvc_uggemo.exe" brings me nothing and that is suspicious.http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

I'm not sure if I have an ATI video card. I got my computer like 1 year ago, so it's a pretty recent model. I'm not sure if that helps answer your question or gives you some indication. I used Avast and Spybot, that's all I have. I'll go through the stuff you sent along and see what happens. Thanks, any further suggestions?

To find out if you have an ATI video card, go to Control Panel>System>Hardware tab>Device Manager and expand the Display category by clicking on the little cross to the left of it. That will tell you what video card you have. Please do the scanning suggested at the link I gave you, not skipping the preparatory work. I don't think you need to scan with Multi-AV; just do the maintenance and scan with MBAM.Also try and answer The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

It is followed by Visual C ++ Documentation on assert then Expression:p!=0 I will click retry and after 2 attempts the PC will lock up. I have been given assistance from a Norton security tech. that has told me that the security system is not causing this notification. He recommended I contacted Microsoft.
