deactivate one network port on first win7 installation and the other on the second windows 7
Hello guys I've got a question about a mainboard with 2 network ports and connecting it to 2 different networks. If i make a dual boot system with 2 win7 installations and on one windows 7 installation i'll deactivate one network port and on the other installation, i'll deactivate the other port. In the end i want to have a dual boot system and one installation connects to network 1 and if i boot the other installation, i'll want to connect to network 2. With this way i didn't have to unplug any network cable at any time. BUT are those 2 networks fully disconnected from each other or can someone/something get access from network 1 to network 2 even if i deactivate the network card of network 2? Is it safe? I'm asking this because the network department will kill me if i connect these 2 networks together ;) Greetz from switzerlandGruss Stephan

The potential (risk) is there if the other network card is physically present and connected to the cable for it to become active and both networks become available to one instance of Windows 7. Your approach seems sound, but is it worth the risk? Sounds like no. It would take a little more effort to bridge the two networks if both were active, but that possibility would also exist. My answer is, No, it is not safe. Why don't you ask the network department what they think?
