cursor failure/permissions glitch
I have administrative permissions for my computer (only user), yet at times my computer refuses to allow me to exercise this. I have been advised to create a new user profile, however also at times (but consistently on the same things) my cursor will not be able to enter a box to enter data. This glitch is happening when I attempt to create a new user. Other times: trying to create a password for a router; entering a code to activate a game. Help! (Staples tech staff and Game House haven't solved it)1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi Bullwinklefan, · Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue started? Step 1 I would suggest you to check if the issue persists in safe mode and postback the result. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping F8 key during restart. Once you see the option to boot in safe mode select it and press enter. If it works fine in Safe mode, you may try to create a new user account from safe mode and check if it helps. You may put the computer in a clean boot state and check if any third party applications or startup items are causing this issue.Access the link below and follow the steps to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows XP.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 If your issue is resolved after performing Clean Boot, then follow the steps mentioned in the following KB article to narrow down the exact source. Also, see the section on how return your computer to a Normal startup mode by following the steps under “Reset the computer to start as usual” and set it to Normal Startup. Step 2 If the above steps fail, you may try to run a System File Checker (SFC Scan). To run SFC Scan follow these steps:a. Click Start, and click on run. b. Type cmd in the box and click on Ok.c. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow Access the link below to know more about running System File Checker.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747Check if it helps you fix the issue. Thanks. Safe mode does not fix it - already tried that. But I will try your suggestions from there. I appreciate your advice. Thanks.
