I have windows 8 and cyberlink application is installed, it has just stopped opening. the link is still there but it will not open

For the link will not open, do you mean when clicking on the application shortcut, it will no longer launch?

Check into Event Viewer and see if any errors related have been logged:

In the Search Box, type Event, then select View Event logs.
