csc.sys BSOD when using Previous Versions feature
Hi All, I am experiencing a BSOD when trying to recover a file using the previous versions feature on our File Server. Some details on th BSOD: RDR_FILE_SYSTEM csc.sys Bugcheck: 0x00000027 Basically I can select the previous version of the folder I want, from there I try to open a sub-folder & get the BSOD. I have tried on a few windows 7 machines and all are experiencing the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem/know of a solution? Thanks Jason

This patch didn't help the users in the previously linked thread... I will however test it and see what happens for me. Thanks Jason

use 7zip [1] and set a max file size of 49MB. 7zip now creates more parts. upload all parts. André [1] http://7-zip.org/"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

I have uninstalled McAfee VirusScan Enterprise & McAfee Endpoint Encryption (not sure which was using that driver file), and can still replicate the BSOD. I've uploaded the new memory dump. Thanks!

Don't think this will be driver related as I can cause the same BSOD on other computers using totally different hardware & drivers. But I will give it a try none-the-less.

Since Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a third-party device drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services). The system goes to a BSOD because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are). To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call. Instead of contacting Microsoft CSS, you can also consider to contact the support of your computer manufacturer to check hardware issues. Havent had a chance to log a phone support ticket for this yet. Again I don't think it'll be a hardware issue as I can replicate the problem across any of the Windows 7 x64 machines (from various manufacturers) in our office. With having an enterprise license & software assurance with Microsoft, should we get any 'free' support cases for desktop related items? Have asked our reseller but always get cryptic responses lol Looking at the benefits website I can only see free support cases for server related items & then TechNet support for everything else... Bit of a shame if thats the case.

Yes, contact the support. Everything else don't help you to solve it. We can't debug this in detail."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Given this doesn't have a massive affect on our production environment (mainly running XP still, which doesn't have the problem. Plus the limited amount of time we actually need to use previous versions etc...) I havent been able to allocate time/cost to log a support ticket etc...

Sp1 includes a lot of Hotfixes, so there was a good chance to fix it. "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/ Agree, but I'v looked the list and I didn't find any specific hotfix pointing to this issue. rgds Sven
