What is the extension of the file (the characters at the end of thefile name, after the dot)? To open any file, you have to have installed an appropriate programfor it. In all probability, you don't have it for this kind of file. Also be aware that attachments are very risky. You often see advicenot to open attachments from people you don't know. I think thatthat's one of the most dangerous pieces of advice you see around, because it implies that it's safe to do the opposite--open attachmentsfrom friends and relatives. But many viruses spread by sendingthemselves to everyone in the infected party's address book, soattachments received from friends are perhaps the *most* risky toopen. Even if the attachment legitimately comes from a friend, it cancontain a virus. I'm not suggesting that a friend is likely to sendyou a virus on purpose, but if the friend is infected withoutrealizing it, any attachment he sends you is likely to also beinfected. -- Ken BlakePlease Reply to the Newsgroup Ken Blake
