windows xp, outlook express, I received an email with attachment but when i try to opened it it just says: this file has not have a program with it to performing this action. Create an association in the folder options in the control panel. I've been looking info about it but I don't know how to do it to open the attachment file. What is the extension of the file (the characters at the end of thefile name, after the dot)? To open any file, you have to have installed an appropriate programfor it. In all probability, you don't have it for this kind of file. Also be aware that attachments are very risky. You often see advicenot to open attachments from people you don't know. I think thatthat's one of the most dangerous pieces of advice you see around,because it implies that it's safe to do the opposite--open attachmentsfrom friends and relatives. But many viruses spread by sendingthemselves to everyone in the infected party's address book, soattachments received from friends are perhaps the *most* risky toopen. Even if the attachment legitimately comes from a friend, it cancontain a virus.
