crash dump in Win7
Hello,
I hope this is the right place to ask this question:
I would like to trigger a crash dump for a 64 bit Win 7 box that is crashing when an app calls GetOpenFilename. I thought that Dr. Watson could be used and found a reg entry that configures it. But there do not appear to be any files found when the 64 bit
Win 7 box is searched using "DrWatson.exe".
So...what do I do next?

Dr Watson does not exist in Windows 7 (FAQ is for Windows Vista but generally applies to Windows 7):

However, you can configure the collection of full user-mode dumps:

Thanks for clearing up the Dr. W mystery.
Someone else suggested using windbg but that looks more complicated than the full user-mode dumps you linked to.
So I will try your approach first.MarlanaB

Hi,
I read the article on full user-mode dumps and don't see where my app crash fits in to this scenario. The WER dialog never appears. During the call to GetOpenFilename the app just disappears either before the Open dialog is shown or a very short time afterward.
Thanks for your input,MarlanaB
