constant BSOD when idle
Lol yeah. OK i've got an update for the whole matter. When I swapped the second MSI board for the Gigabyte I didn't do a fresh windows install because I do remote tech support from home and was scheduled too work that morning and was already late. So after I went and bought the Gigabyte board I quickly assembled it and booted it up and clocked into work and all seemed to be fine for a few days then started getting the nightly BSOD. So last night I tried messing with drivers again and my system was completely unstable. I was getting BSOD in safe mode, safe mode with networking and normal mode so I got so fed up with everything I backed up all my stuff and did a wipe/reload again. This is the first time i've had a fresh install on the Gigabyte board. Everything seemed to go well. Install finish and booted up and while installing chipset drivers I got another BSOD I believe from dxgkrnl.sys so i just powered it off booted up and tried the chipset drivers again and there was no problem until about an hour or so later I got another from something else but i can't recall the name atm but it was something along the lines of ntfltr.sys or something. but after getting most all updates and drivers installed it has been stable for the past 5 hours so I'll cross my fingers and report back here if still having trouble. and if all good in a couple of days I'll mark this as answered. I do want to thank you for all the help you've provided so far it is much appreciated

Hi I'm really starting to get aggravated. Everything was working pretty good and all my problems started with a faulty sata controller on my MSI mobo (880GM-E43) which would drop my secondary HDD every so oftem. I had it rma'd, received a refurbished one (880GMA-E45), and my system was completly unstable. I couldn't go 30 minutes with out my programs crashing. Those programs ranged from Firefox to Deluge to special software I use for work. Since then I have started another RMA on on the Second MSI board I received and went to Fry's and got a brand new Gigabyte board (880GA-UD3H). The new Gigabyte board is much more stable and it rarely crashes "while in use". The problem i'm having now is durring the middle of the night it apparently crashes and recovers and I wake up in the morning to find the little box that says windows has recovered from a serious error and is asking to check for a solution. I have run Memtest86 for 9 hours and 7 passes, I have completely wiped my OS drive 4 maybe 5 times now and reinstalled windows, I have uninstalled and reinstalled many many drivers, I just recently last night updated the bios, although I knew that wasn't going to make a difference because i've gone through 2 different mobo's and have gone as far as too install windbg to try to examine the dmp files but have no clue as too what I supposed to look for. Any help would be much appreciated. Ok so that will make for a heck of a memory dump to upload then in that case if I asked for a full dump :)Brandon Wilson - Premier Field Engineer (Platforms)

Do you have an ATI video card? The process causing the crash in win32k.sys is called ccc.exe (ATI Catalyst Control Center). This is ran at startup, so if you run msconfig, you should be able to disable it for a couple days to test and see if the crash reoccurs or not. Thank you so much for taking time to reply. That error was from me using an old version of catalyst control center and trying to adjust some settings. I fixed that by upgrading that s/w and driver.

In looking at some of the others, each file appears to show a different offending process. How much RAM does this machine have?Brandon Wilson - Premier Field Engineer (Platforms)
