connecting my playstation 3 to the internet.
My internet service provider is Alltel. I have a little wireless thing that plugs into my usb port. Well to get internet on my playstation 3, I run an ethernet cable from my laptop to my ps3. It worked fine for sometime and then one day it just quit working. Ive come to the conclusion that is has something to do with the connection on my laptop. When I go into my setting and go to trouble shooting problems, Network adapter, it gives me a message that says "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. Ive done all I know to do and I can't fix the problem. Have any ideas?

It sounds like you set up Internet Connetion Sharing (ICS) on your laptop and connected your PS3 to the laptop. So for this to work, you have to have your laptop on and connected so that the PS3 has internet connectivity. Why dont you simply purchase some type of wireless adapter for the PS3? Set aside the PS3 question for a moment. You need to focus on getting the internet access issue resolved for the laptop. If the scenario I described is your config, then I would try to fix ICS by removing that config and re-enabling it. Troubleshooting the PS3 issue is probably not going to happen on this forum since this forum deals with Windows. Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
