Hi takuro1103, It is possible the network adapter is not fully compatible with Windows 7 or certain system component is damged. Let's try the following suggestions and see if the issue can be resolved. - Disable and re-enable the connection =========== 1. Click on the network connection icon on the right corner of the screen and then click "Open Network and Sharing Center". 2. Click "Change adapter settings" on the left pane. 3. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and then click "Disable". 5. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and then click "Enable". If the issue persists, please move on. - Uninstall the network adapter from Device Manager =========== 1. Go to Start, type Device Manager in the Search box and then press Enter. 2. Expand "Network adapters" in Device Manager. 3. Right click on your Network adapter and then click Uninstall. 4. Restart the computer and see if the issue can be resolved. - Update the network adapter to the latest one which is compatible with Windows 7. However, if the above information cannot resolve this issue, please perform an In-Place upgrade to repair Windows 7. Also, what is the message when hovering over the network connection icon? Hope this helps. Regards, Linda

Hi takuro1103, First, please try updating the network adapter driver to the latest one which is compatible with Windows 7 and see if the issue can be resolved. If the issue persists after upgrading the network adapter driver, please also try the following suggestions to see if the issue can be resolved. Check related services ===== 1. On General tab click Start. 4. Choose Automatic next to Startup type. 5. Click OK. 6. Repeat step 3 to 5 to start "Remote Access Connection Manager" service. I have the same issue (Win 7 64-bit), and it's driving me nuts! My fix (workaround, in fact): Shut down the PC, disconnect the network cable, turn on PC, wait network not to be recognized (of course, no cable plugged), then, plug the network cable, voila! Network icon without an "x"!. If I ever reboot and leave the cable plugged, the network works, but the icon is "Xed". I look forward for a permanent fix, though, I hate to reboot and forget to unplug, etc, so I am getting used to the icon with an X.
