Hi mlrckm1,1. Since when are you facing this issue?2. Were there any changes made prior to this issue?3. Do you get an error when you try to remove programs?4. What is the version of operating system installed on your computer?Step 1:Put the computer in a clean boot and check if you are able to remove programs and if the computer crashes.a. Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.b. Refer the following Microsoft KB article for more information on how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in XP:How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned under the section 'Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state' in the above KB article.Step 2:If you are using Windows XP, then there is a hotfix available:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328213Disclaimer:-A hotfix is intended to correct a specific problem.-Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the specific problem.-Installing the incorrect hotfix can cause damage to your system.-If you are not sure whether the hotfix is the correct one for your system, do not install it.
