clients' explorer will hang when DFS server doesn't send SMB2 status_canceled response
explorer hang when browsing DFS server from win7 client. I.E, it will hang when navigate from \\DFSServer\folder to \\DFSServer\folder\subfolder, or navigate from subfolder back to folder. this is easy to reproduce but not 100%, this happened on several win7 clients in our company. I captured network protocol packets using wireshare, found that every time hang happens, the clinet machine is waiting for a SMB2 notify response with STATUS_CANCELED message which should be recieved from server as client had sent a SMB2 notify cancel command to the server. after serveral seconds as client did not receive the STATUS_CANCELLED message, the client will send treedisconnect requst and sessionlogoff request. I am expecting an explaniton on why some times client can't receive a STATUS_CANCELED message for a canncel notify command from server, and why explorer will hang when this happened. Thanks very much, this is important for our company.

Hi, Based on your description, I suggest you could go to the Group Policy\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer, enable Classic Shell and check the result. Hope it helps. Regards, Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
