Mishab The folders in the path that you posted are not real folders, they are Junction Points and Symbolic Links. These are only there for compatibility purposes for older programs. They redirect these older programs to the new locations in Vista. These Junction Points should display an 'Access Denied' error when they are accessed. C:\Documents and Settings points to C:\Users All Users points to C:\Program Data Application Data points to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming I'm not sure how that 'Verizon' folder was placed in the 'App Data' folder, but it should not have been placed there. The correct path to that folder should be: C:\Program Data\Verizon. To run the chkdisk. Go to Start/All programs/Accessories. Right click 'Command Prompt' and select the 'Run As Administrator' option. Click 'Continue' on the UAC prompt. In the Command Prompt window, type the following. chkdsk C: /f /r Press ENTER. Check disk ask if you want to run the next system restarts, press Y to confirm this and click ENTER. Exit the command prompt and restart the system. Checkdisk will run and this could take some time depending on what it finds and how large the hard drive is. After Windows starts, go to Start and type eventvwr.msc. In the results, click the Event Viewer. In the Event Viewer expand the Windows Logs in the left side menu and select Application. Look for an entry in the right side with a time and date that corresponds to the time that check disk ran. It should say Information - Date and Time - Source: Wininit - Event ID: 1001. Click this event. In the center section, scroll down to the bottom and use the cursor to select all of the text in that box. Press CTRL+C to copy the text to the clipboard. Open Notepad and paste the copied text there. Save the Notepad file as ChkDsk.txt to the Desktop. Now, you can take a look at the results of the check disk procedure. It start about a month ago. When I start my computer this warning appears on the screen, "windows-corrupt file and unreadable. Run chkdsk utility." When I run chksk is only reads and doesn't repair the file because of /f parameters. Please tell me what am I doing wrong. Sincerely, Joan

Hi Ronnie, I followed your procedure step by step by I keep getting this mesaage: "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (YN)".I keep choosing Y. I've re-started my system numerous times nothing ever happends. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
