check disk locks up PC after boot
HP HDX9494NR will lock up after I schedule a check disk after the boot. The counter will count down to one and hang indefinitely, forcing me to hold the power button to reboot. When I reboot and try to hit any key to skip this step, it still counts down to zero and locks up. The only way to get out of this lock-up cycle is to hit F8, use last know good configuration, and hit the button during the check disk countdown. The strange part is the countdown will go all he way to 1, lock up for a couple seconds and will skip to the boot -really odd. It looks like the application is not starting properly or the script switches are having some sort of problem. Any ideas?

Boot from your Windows install disk. Select "Repair my computer", and then "Open a command prompt".In this prompt, do chksk c: /f.If C: turns out to be the 200 MB partition, do chkdsk D: /f.See if this helps.
