Hi, Based on my knowledge, please try the following: 1. Please check if remote assistance is disabled by Group Policy settings. Please set Offer Remote Assistance under Computer configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Remote Assistance to Not configured and see how it works. 2. Check if Remote Assistance related rules are disabled in Windows Firewall. 3. Test the issue again in Clean Boot Mode and Safe Mode. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

Hi Joe, Based on my test, Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service depends on Peer Networking Identity Manager Service. Please check if Peer Networking Identity Manager Service can be started or whether it is disabled in services.msc. Also, please check if the log on account for this Service is Local Service. And, if you are prompted for a password, please input any password. More information: LocalService Account If Peer Networking Identity Manager Service still fails to be started, please let us know the error message. Hope this helps. Peer Network Identity Manager gives me an Access Denied message when trying to start it. Peer Name Resolution Protocol Gets: Error 1068 The dependency Service or group failed to start. Peer Network Grouping Gets: Error 1068 The dependency Service or group failed to start. PNRP Machine Name Publication Service Gets: Error 1068 The dependency Service or group failed to start. I did all the passwords as in your example above on each of these too. This worked ...prior to a Rebuild and I did not remember doing anything special to make it work... Policy maybe? Although I believe we checked this too. Talk to you soon. Thank you very much. Hi Joe, Firstly, please check and let us know whether the following three Services can be started. Peer Networking Identity Manager Service Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service Peer Networking Grouping Service If the above Services work properly and the option is still greyed out , please try the following: 1. Boot into Clean Boot Mode and test the issue again. 2. Check if In-place Upgrade can help you. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

Hi, Please navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking and check if Local Service account exists in the Security tab of the folder properties. If not, please add Local Service with full permission. If Local Service exists, please rename the folder to PeerNetworking.old, reboot your system and try to start Peer Networking Identity Manager Service again. Hope this helps.
