cant network with vista and xp wirelessly
ok so i am trying to network together a vista toshiba labtop and a gateway xp labtop. the gateway just got restored and i have the networking driver installed now. so i created a ad hoc channel with the vista and get my gateway to connect to it. now i can find my gateway on the vista but when i try to access it i get the error message cannot access gateway. and on my xp computer even when i try to find other workgroup computers the system crashes every single time like its missing the software or somethnig. oh and under the properties section on the xp computer it says The channel selection for an ad hoc 802.11a adapter is disabled. so how do i enable this adapter. please help

Hi, ad hoc 802.11a adapter is kind of out dated. It is suggested to install further edition and check if it will work: http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/wireless80211/a/aa80211standard.htm Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. Try to enable ad-hoc wireless connection on your XP laptop as shown here, after that connect to this network from Vista laptop, see if it works. Hope this helps.
