...when i try to open something it reads "the program needs to find out who created the program," instead of just opening...what can i do? Your error message doesn’t sound verbatim to me. Try this, it will not harm anything: 1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to \Windows\System32, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator. . Now type assoc .exe=exefile and press Enter. You may have to restart the computer. If that fails try using the program command.com, which is in the same folder 2. If the above enables you to run applications, clean up the machine with MBAM. Download the free Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install it. Follow the prompts but make sure ticks are placed next to ‘Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware’ and ‘Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware’ then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Have you tried the .exe association (my number 1 above), which doesn‘t need to be downloaded? If you’re still stuck, download and create the Ultimate Boot CD on a working machine, here http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23100-page,1-c,utilities/description.html Once the CD has been made, boot your PC into the CD. It has its own ‘operating system’ so you will have full access to your infected hard drive. Built into the CD you get a number of ‘anti’ programs. Just run them and select your hard drive files. Follow the instructions for each of the programs to remove malware.
