Windows Live OneCare has been discontinued. Uninstall it, scan for malware to make sure your computer is clean, install a current version antivirus. I prefer ESET NOD32 (commercial) or Avast Free but if you like Microsoft products then Microsoft Security Essentials is free. Once you've done this, see what happens with the Windows Firewall.http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

In my past experiences, I have found Avast to only be the best FREE AV at preventive, as it can detect things through the network and on the net before it even hits your PC. But on the other hand, MSE has been the best for me. It detects fast. I have put MSE on several infected PCs and within minutes WITHOUT running a scan finds virus's. MSE is my new Fav for FREE AV. Per av-comparatives.org it was also the first FREE AV to get an ADV+ rating. My 2 cents. Now the best free 3rd party Firewall I would say is Zonealarm.[_1337_Pete_]

And another great free removal tool is superantispyware portable. It does not need to be installed and finds just about everything. It can also be ran in safemode. It is a .COM file instead of .EXE and can not be stopped by malware nor can they hide from it. I have removed a lot of new and old ROGUE AV with it. Try it. You may be surprised at what it may find. And yes I find it better, faster and more reliable than MalwareBytes.[_1337_Pete_]
