Hello,

As noted in this interoperability URL:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204672.aspx

Lync 2013 desktop sharing should work fine. What is the problem you are having?
-is the desktop sharing button disabled?
-does desksharing fail during connection?
-or does desksharing show blank screen?

Hi,

Have you accepted sharing desktop from other users to test?

Have you tested other application sharing?

You can ask for your partner to disable UAC on her/him machine and test it again.

HI Matt,

I have same problem.

After i accept Lync Sharing , i just see black screen, when other side is sharing desktop. If other side is sharing a program, there are no issues.

Both sides are running on Windows 8 - with Lync 2013 and in VMWare.

Please help.

Thanks

We have seen this problem on other computers and have noticed that some computers are not able to share desktop if 3G and wlan is ON.

Could you try and disable those, both should be disabled if you click on the wireless button on the laptop.

After the wlan is disabled (the button should be orange) try and share desktop with a colleague.

I am experiencing the same issue on LAN. It has nothing to do with the other person's computer (verified), only my computer. 2010 worked fine. There must be a graphic card conflict or security setting. BTW I have UAC turned completely off on my laptop.

It is indeed an issue as it sometimes works on mine.  When it does work after an unexpected time the screen sharing stops and says network connectivity issue but if I go back to the 2010 client everything works.

Matt-

Problem:

What I get a white blank screen when someone shares their screen. Not sure what to do.

System:

Windows 7 x64-bit laptop (E6530).

Lync 2013 (didn't have Lync 2010 before)

Office 2010 pro

My Steps:

I went to DELL's support site and updated it with the Intel HD Graphics Driver, but still the same thing.

I've experiences this a few times in the past. The easiest solution is to follow this guide to solve it:

Looking into Event Viewer Microsoft Office Alerts the following event was being generated every time problem was reproduced:

Microsoft Lync

CLSID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} CATID: {9B179D6E-9BDB-454b-BE3D-89F9A792BD39} The ActiveX Compatibility setting disabled loading this object to help protect your security.

Take  note of CLSID identifier above and open registry editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} (if using LYNC 2013 32 bits on Windows 8 64 bits)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} (if running LYNC 2013 64 bits or running LYNC 2013 32 bits on Windows 8 32 bits)

You can remove this entry or change Compatibility Flags as described on the following KB articles:

Try change your Windows Theme to Windows 7 Basic Theme.

Or

Control Panel -> Performance and Information Tools -> Adjust Visual Effects -> Uncheck Enable desktop composition

It is 100% worked for my current company client.

Best Regards,

Hi Victor, do you know why you have to change the Theme in order to view a shared document or application that is not uploaded to Lync?  We are getting ready to start using Lync with our clients and are trying to anticipate any issues they may have if they join using the web view.  Thank you in advance for any thoughts  you might have on this.
