To reset the WEP key, you need access the Wireless router's configuration page and change a new WEP key or disable WEP key. For more information to access Wireless router's configuration page, please refer to the link below or refer to your router's instruction manual. Set up a wireless network Thanks, Novak

You could access the router config page by logging in using it's default IP, Linksys routers, for example, use 192.168.1.1for their internal IP address. D-Link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1. unless you or someone have change the default IP to something else previously. Alternatively you could use astraightened paper clipto poke the back of a router (unit labeled Reset.) Hold the paperclip/reset down for 10 seconds and next release it. The unit will reboot on its own. As soon as the lights stop blinking, the unit is ready. If you changed your password previously, it will be gone so refer to your user's guide for your router. Most router-passwords are blank or "admin

Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine. 2. Assure the SSID and passphrase is the same for the router config page. 3. Upgrade the Wireless network adapter driver for Windows 7. If there is no Windows 7 driver, you can install the driver for Windows Vista in Compatibility Mode. If the issue persists, please reinstall the network adapter driver and collect the following log file. Collect the Netmon trace ========================= a. Download NetMon3.3 from the following website and install it on the computer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f b. Launch NetMon3.3. c. In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3 window, click Create a new capture tab d. In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window. e. Then, switch to Network Monitor, press F5 to start NetMon. f. Try to access the Wireless network. When it failed, go to step 7. g. Go back to the NetMon window and press F7 to stop the NetMon. h. Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file named test. Then please upload to SkyDrive (www.skydrive.live.com ) and share the link to me. Thanks, Novak

ok, here you go! It's DuncanRhodes-test.capUntil I hooked up the Ethernet cable, there were no network adapters to select...the capture is with the Ethernet cable plugged in..https://cid-4d8c53c710ba7320.skydrive.live.com/viewpermissions.aspx/.PublicBTW, the NetMon3.3 download page would benefit with an explanation ofthe differences between the 3 download files. Had to try 2 to get 1 to work. Thanks for your help!

Try logging into the router config page with ethernet cable for the time being and set the ssid and passphrase for both router config page as well as the wireless device/connection under your comp (best would be to disable any wep or wpa for the time being, once the Belkin WUSB54G wireless is detected, save and exit from the router)Next try connecting with the wireless connection

A long call with MS Tech Support for Networking has fixed the issue!!The problem is that Win7 will NOT utilize WEP security.Guess it worked until my first updates, & then WEP was killed off, & wireless adapter would not connect.Password dialog box never came up, connection just failed. The troubleshooting dialogs said everyt5hing was fine.We changed the wireless router to WPA Personal security & all is well! You should add this to your Knowledge Base.

I'm experiencing an extremely similar problem, but I'm not sure I am ready to think that W7 won't utilize WEP, and I can't convert to WPA so easily, so I'll throw this into the mix. I have an older 802.11 G Microsoft Router (Maybe from 2005/2006 time frame). I use the MSFT Broadband Networking tool to manage the router. I upgraded Vista Pro to W7Pro on my lenovo Thinkpad T60p laptop. 32 bit. The Upgrade process utilized the wireless connection to do all its updates and connect during the upgrade process, including validation etc. Then, when it was booting up into the W7 install, it asked for the WEP key. I put it in correctly, but it couldn't connect. I skipped it and am now running in the W7 environment. However, I can't get the wireless network setup to connect to my network if WEP is utilized. I can connect to unsecured networks, but not my WEP network. Online research summarized basically in this post: http://forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?p=2415340 which is a decent discussion of many of the various threads (including this one). I'm going to run the netmon report above shortly to see what I get, but if there's been any additional research at MSFT, I'd love to know about that. Also, I agree with the note above - which file should I download to get Netmon to work on a W732bit setup?
