cannot print from laptop running windows 7 on my home network with all other computers running xp sp3
I have spent 2 days trying to get a new laptop to print on a printer connected to a desktop comp on my home network. When I try to install a wireless printer, it is listed on the screen, but this it says it cannot find the driver. I have downloaded the 64 bit drivers from hp but it still won't work. HELP!!!!!!

What is the model of the printer? Please make sure that you download and install the latest Windows 7 compatible driver. If it does not help, please follow the steps below to change NTLM authentication level. 1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.2. Find the following branch. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3. Create a DWORD key under Lsa and set: Name: LmCompatibilityLevel Value: 1 4. Restart. If the issue still occurs, please follow the steps below to add a TCP port for the shared printer. 1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.2. Click Add a Printer. 3. Select "Add a local printer". 4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port. 5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer] Then click Next. 6. Choose the correct driver in the driver list. If no available driver, click the button Windows Update, wait for the process finishes and then look for the driver again.7. Finish the installation. If the printers cannot be installed, or it does not work after installing, please let us know the model of the printer.Arthur Xie - MSFT
