cannot log into windows xp... possible virus? logs in then back out now need files
one day last week i turned on my computer and came to the login screen for windows xp, i clicked my user account and typed in my password, it logged in up to the "loading your personal settings" step, then immediately said "saving your personal settings" and put me back at the login screen. i tried again with the other user accounts and it did the exact same thing. ive been told i may have gotten a virus. i had my system backed up on a seagate external hard drive, so i got a new hard drive with windows xp on it, plugged in my seagate external drive and loaded the files onto my new hard drive. all good except there were some files on my old hard drive that i had not backed up to the seagate drive. so i plugged my old hard drive in as a slave drive to my new one, i can see it in my computer and i can see some of the files but the documents folder is private (most likely due to me being the primary user and it being password protected.) is there any way to get past this? to get into my old hard drive which is set up as a slave to my new hard drive and get files that were in documents folder? thanks....1 person needs an answerI do too
