cannot connect to Windows 7 Quickbooks POS data file from a XP box
Hi there,I'm trying to help a person open a store. They use Qk books POS v9. The server is on a Windows 7 box and the workstation is a XP machine. I can see the XP box from the 7 machine, I can ping the XP box from the 7 machine. I cannot ping the 7 machine from the XP box. Both machines can acces the internet, both machines can print to the network printer. POS says that it "cannot find the company data" on the 7 box. I can navigate through the network from the XP box to the file share on the 7 box. What gives here? Is there some patch that makes Xp play nice with 7?dillon

Did you turn off Windows 7 firewall and try it? Please also temporarily turn off other third party firewall and antivirus program to check the result. If the issue persists, please perform a Clean Boot in Windows 7 and then ping the machine from Windows XP machine again. If there is any error message, please post them here for research.

Thanks for all of your help. THe firewall was the culprit along with the permissions on the folder. It seems that Quickbooks POS puts the data file in the "My Documents" folder and the share has to be done from there. Thanks again everyone.dillon
