cannot access network drives and printers
I'm trying to access some of my university's network drives and printers using a VPN tunnel. With my computer, it had worked fine for a while until it suddenly didn't any more. I can ping the server, but when I type 'net use x: \\server\drive' I get 'The network location cannot be reached'. I cannot print either. Both the mapping of the network drives and printing does work with another older computer I'm using. I already turned off the firewall, deleted all network drives and reinstalled them, but that didn't change anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You really need to talk to the school's IT department for exact settings to connect to their system.
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

Hi, Please run a Ping test to the server and check whether you can get response. If you can ping the server from Windows 7 machine, please try the following steps. 1. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and access the shared folder from Server for a test. 2. Write down the IP address of the Server. Click Start button in Windows 7 and type \\IP address of the Server, and then press enter. Can you access the server machine now? If it works, the issue can be related to DNS. You may check Hosts file. Please refer the following article. Modify the Hosts file In the hosts file, ignore all the lines that start with *, and pay attention to other lines. Please only keep the line "localhost 127.0.0.1", delete others. Thanks, Novak
