can't surf, but able to ping out
I have seen simiar issues posted, but I have a few more details than most. Toshiba Satelite 1355 running Windows Vista 32bit Home Basic. I work in IT, but I haven't done a lot of work with Vista/7 so I am out of my league here. This is my parents computer and we are able to connect to the internet through a wireless aircard (Verizon) and it works just fine. We are trying to connect it to home wireless network (ATT wireless moden, not a private wireless network). The PC connects and pulls an IP address. DNS works as well. I am able to ping out from cmd-prompt from the domain as well as the IP. However, I can not browse the internet using any browswer (IE, FF, Chrome). I tried using the IP to check for a DNS issue, and it didn't work. The weird thing here is we know it works, because everything works fine while connected to the aircard (I haven't tried to connect it with a cable yet, I only have one ethernet port and something was already using it). I work remotely with field techs and I have heard some of them mention possible IP issues with Vista, but I was never given the solution they used. So I know this is something that happens, just hoping someone else has seen it and will have an answer on how to get this to work. Thanks.

Hi, Is it true that you can't surf all website? Make sure your network type is set to work station. Disable Windows firewall to check if it goes through.
