can't join homegroup
I am trying to get the HomeGroup feature of Windows 7 to work. I know I can go to START > COMPUTER > HOMEGROUP to retrieve the HomeGroup password. When I get that password and go to the other computer which is also running Windows 7 and type in the password, it says the password is incorrect. Now I can't figure out why that would be as I wrote it down and typed it correctly ,i even use a usb to copy it they way it is still same it is not recognize/wrong password. I have also tried changing it but the new password also will not work

I have encountered this a few times and all I can assume is something has gotten corrupted. On the 1st computer "Leave the Homegroup" and then go back and start over again by Joining the Homegroup. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. You must ensure that all computers Leave the Homegroup. Something in one of the profiles is corrupt causing the problem. I don't know where the profile is located, but all 5 computers must not be a part of any Homegroup and then you start over. I had to do this on my 5 computers and I have done it on other peoples systems. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Are you getting any error information other than it telling you the password is wrong? Have all 5 computers been able to Leave the Homegroup? There is nothing wrong with your home network. I use an 8 port switch connected to my wireless router for mine. I have 5 computers, 2 printers, a Wii console, and my satellite receiver all serviced on my home network. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Are all 5 of the computers completely off the Homegroup? Ensure that none of them have a Homegroup established on all 5 of the computers. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Make sure you "Leave the Homegroup" on the one you have established currently. All 5 computers must not have a Homegroup established. When you have ensured that there is no Homegroup on any of the 5 computers, go to a different computer and start the Homegroup process on a different computer. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
