You haven't provided enough information to get focused help. what is the full Stop Error (the numbers)? Can you get into Windows at all? Usually a Stop Error consists of a Blue Screen with the words (as an example): Stop Error 0x00000050 (four sets of numbers in parenthesis) with sometimes text like "Page Fault in Non-paged area" with a file referenced like ati3diag.dll. Just giving the information you did doesn't help narrow down the troubleshooting. Since you say your computer skills aren't particularly high, perhaps the best solution is to take the machine to a competent local professional. Don't use a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
