blue screen error
I am also having the blue screen of death error issue. My computer was fine then suddenly shut down and restarted itself, flashed a quick blue screen with error message that lasts only a few seconds then restarts itself again. HELP. I can't afford a new computer. My email is amandapoor@hotmail.com . I did try a system restore but it didn't help at all. ps I'm not very computer literate when it comes to service issues. Thanks

Click Start, type event viewer, click on it, and try to locate an appropriate error message. Copy past its details here. Alternatively, click Start, type Advanced system setting, click "View advanced system settings", locate Startup and Recovery group, click Settings there, uncheck Automatically restart and click OK. After that, the computer will not restart automatically and you will have a chance to write down the error codes.

Reboot your computer. When it powers back on you should see the manufacturer's splash screen showing the company logo. At that time, hit F8 (F6 on some machines works as well) to boot into the Alternative Boot Options. Then once you see the options. Navigate towards the bottom of the list where it tells you to Disable Automatic Restart Of System Failure (or something to that nature). Next time it boots and shows the blue screen error, the screen will stop. Allowing you to see what the error message says. Depending on your hardware, it may take you a couple of tries before you get to the Alternative Boot Options. _JoeG Dell - Systems Integration Consultant Twitter: @8bits1byte Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, For BOSD problem, you may try following general steps to prevent that: 1.Download and install updates and device drivers for your computer from Windows Update. 2.Scan your computer for computer viruses. 3.Check your hard disk for errors. Also you may run Windows 7 in Safe Mode then check whether this problem occurs again, please let me know the result. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode If the persists, please compress the dump files in the path of C:\Windows\Minidump\, upload the files via SkyDrive and post a link here. Since the dump file contains the detail information about BSOD, we should research these file in order to find the root cause of BSOD. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0 Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
