black screen with working cursor after startup
this problem started today. i was gaming, then suddenly my game froze and a screechy noise appeared. so i hardrestarted and it goes to the blue screen with welcome on it. then it goes to the desktop, but there is no desktop. its just a black screen with a cursor that works. i have had these gaming crashes from the day i got my new computers. it goes to a frozen state then makes a screeching noise or it goes to a black or frozen screen with a buzzing noise. i ignored it and today this problem happened. i have disabled my adapter but that didnt solve the problem.

Hi Iceyjasio, Have you looked through your event logs as there should be some indication of what is going on with your machine? Also what is the spec of the machine as this maybe driver related, notably the graphics card. Another thing to check is the dump file Windows makes when it crashes, a handy tool to use is Bluescreen view by Nir Soft

This is usually caused by a corrupt profile try booting to Safe Mode. If that works, then its possibly a startup item, and you can try a Clean Boot troubleshooting process. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth
