Hi, Thanks for the post! According to your description, the encrypting is not completed. What do you mean you pause it? Please refer to this KB: The BitLocker Drive Encryption feature in Windows Vista generates heavy disk activity after you restart the computer in Windows PE or in Windows RE Regards, Miya This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Yes, there is a way to recover your data, but depends on what is the current status of bitlocker on your machine. 1. What is the Operating System? Windows 7 or Windows Vista? 2. When the encryption started, did you save the 48 digit recovery key to a USB device or print it. Open elevated command prompt and run the below command. >manage-bde -protectors -get D: where D is the drive letter for the volume which is protected by bitlocker. Get the output. Also run, the below command. >manage-bde -status d: where d is the drive letter. Get the output. Answer all this questions, and then I will see if there is a way to recover the data or not?
