bitLocker error
I have Windows 7, I was encrypting my external hard disk (500GB ADATA) with "bit locker drive encryption". It started normally, but suddenly after 67.2%, it said "not responding" and after along time it displays an error: "An error occurred. This disk has one or more errors, run chkdsk/r, if the error persist this may be indicative of a hardware fault..." my hard disk is available in myComputer but I can't open it, and I can't run "check disk" on it, It says the "parameter is incorrect" seems that my computer could NOT find my drive despite of it's availability in my computer. always when I plug in my HDD to my computer it asks for my password, when I enter my password BitLocker encrypting window comes with the same %67.2 and resume button, and when I click resume message says "encryption could not be resumed the parameter is incorrect" with close button, when I click close the same first error message pop ups "An error occurred....." please what should I do to resume encryption or decrypting it, or at least is there any way to recover my data if I formatted the disk... please help me anyone

Open cmd in elevated mode and type: manage-bde -pause X: I guess that should pause the encryption. Then turn it off.

The only other option to recover the data is to use repair-bde command. To execue this command you should have the 48 digit recovery password. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee523219(WS.10).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706528(WS.10).aspx Hope this help you.Manoj Sehgal
