bad NIC?
Problem is unacceptable file download speed-about 30 Mbps-from desktop. I have comcast cable modem connected to a d-Link router. Desktop runs Vista, connects over ethernet, Laptop runs XP, connects via wireless. Performance of both computers is acceptable. Laptop internet performance is fine and download speed is in acceptable range. Desktop webpage loads 'seems' acceptable, only when dowloading files to desktop is there a slowdown. I called Comcast for assistance and they confirm the connection speed is ok. It seems the problem is limited to something on the desktop computer. I tried swapping ethernet cables and got no improvement. The NIC card is a Realtec RTL 8139 with the latest driver (1/26/07). I would appreciate any thoughts. John Clemens
