backup skips corrupt c drive
I have a new windows 7 64 bit emachine. I tried using Microsoft backup and it skips many folders saying c is corrupt. C is not corrupt as everything work well except backup. I have run chkdsk several times and nothing is found. I tried to follow the instructions about cmd and fsutil etc but I get told I do not have administrative privileges. I am the onlu one on this machine and I am the administrator. Perhaps I should try a different back up software.

Hi, Troubleshooting for backup issues involves several potential problem areas – file/disk integrity, software/driver conflicts, and backup-specific problems. Errors during backup are reported via the event logs and files in %windir%\logs\WindowsBackup. The primary useful log is the skipped files log, saved as: Backup Files 000-00-00 000000_error.log This file is removed at the end of the backup job if there were no skipped files or skipped volumes. You can paste the logs here. If it is too long, you can upload the collected files to SkyDrive, and let me know the URL by replying this thread. For detailed steps on how to upload files with SkyDrive, please refer to: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65 The above Windows Live ID is ONLY for collecting troubleshooting information. Please do NOT send your questions to it. For any new questions, please post in the forums so that more MSFT, MVP and community members can help you. Meanwhile, to run command, open Start menu, input cmd in the Search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select “run as administrator”, If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Now you can type “sfc /scannow” in the command prompt and press Enter. This can check for and repair Windows system file integrity issues. In case this issue is caused due to software/driver conflicts, boot the PC to Clean boot to eliminate non-Windows programs, which could contribute to issues creating a backup.
