backup problem
I copied my user profile to a new user\profile then deleted the old profile. Now when I try to backup it errors out because it's still trying to access the document, music, picture, etc. folders at the old path. How can I reset my backup to look for the data files in the new location?

You can add new locations to the libraries. For example my iTunes library lives on a separate hard disk but it is recognized. I assume you files are visible? Backup is not very good in Windows 7. I use the free tool called 7-zip to backup files to a USB hard disk; works for me. Yes, my files are visable and when I check their path in the library they are correct there. But Windows Backup somehow wants to look for them in the path of the deleted profile even though it no longer exists. I've even gone through the registry and replaced all references to the old profile path with the new path but Backup seems to have a mind of it's own.

Backup is intentionally crappy. Remember the problems over media player. Microsoft does not want another fiasco like that again. 7-zip is free and open source works fine for my purposes I have 2 USB hard disks I can use to backup to My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT I am best with C++ and I am learning C# using Visual Studio 2010 Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews
