Hi, Please check if Volume shadow copy and windows backup services are running and set to automatic in Services Console. 1. Click on Start, type Services in Start Search. When the Services page is open, scroll the page to find Volume Shadow Copy and Backup service. 2. Right click on them and check if they are started. 3. If the services are disabled, start the services and set it to Automatic and check if the issue gets resolved. Furthermore, please update BIOS to the latest version, you can try to set BIOS SATA controller to IDE, not RAID, not AHCI. Here’s the Event ID 4104 may helpful to you: http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=4104&eventno=10636&source=Windows%20Backup&phase=1 Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Hello there distant relative, I have seen this issue before on folks running Windows 7 on their Mac. It is caused by the Mac not wanting to give full access to the hardware. Something to do with the way the Mac's treat the virtual hardware layer. To workaround this I have seen folks go a little more on the manual process side. They will have a folder called "backup" and then place all their files in that directory in Windows 7, then attache the USB drive and then copy stuff over. Fbackup is a freeware I have heard that works with Mac's running Windows 7. Good luck out there.
